jailbreak 4.1

sooo ive been a bit slack lately... why you ask?? well to put it simply im a bit bored of it all lol.
i know theres a few answers now for jailbreak on 4.1 limera1n looks good and im actually going to run it up on 2 of my phones in the next couple of weeks but untill limesn0w is sorted (maybe it is now and i just dont know) then its not much good to alot of you. there is another jailbreak floating around which will work for people in my possition and keeps the existing baseband and installs ultrasn0w with the installation of cydia.. this i like as my main phone is a water damaged (it turns out) 3gs 32 with no working wifi... this means im stuck running 4.0.1 endlessley on this phone unless such a jailbreak works 100%.
i will let you know my results.

I hate new bootrom iphones

People need to stop selling iphone's that are running 4.0 in the ad but when they arrive they are running 4.0.2 or even 4.0.1 to be honest. its driving me nuts.
its fine with old bootrom i just down grade to 3.1.2 and then trick it to be 3.1.3 but with new bootrom im stuffed untill some one comes up with a way to falseify shsh files.... some one is working on this idea right ?

jailbreaking... the good and the bad.

i know some people are worried about jailbreaking their iphones and i think its mostly the name that does it.
but look at it this way. apple is continuously making new firmware updates each one locking out jailbreaking and locking your phone to a specified provider. if you dont like the new firmware version then bad luck you have to put up with it for good.
what the guys from cydia have done is they now log your shsh files for what ever versions of firmware you are using with a jailbroken phone which allows you to go back to older versions whenever you like. it allows you to personalise your phone with ring tones themes and all manner of things that apple could let you do but chooses not to.
you get access to heaps of free (not illegal just free) apps which you cant get on itunes (apple charges money for the right to submit an app and reserves the right to say no after they have taken your money this alone puts many people off submitting a app that will be free or accepted by a limited audience)
jailbreaking your phone is not illegal. courts have ruled that you are not breaking the law by jailbreaking.
apple is now persuing other ways to turn people off jailbreaking and hopefully they lose in this attempt.
i use jailbreaks to unlock the phone and to personalise it. i still use mostly all itunes legitimate apps and some others from cydia which arent available on itunes.
jailbreaking has not in anyway affected the performance of my phones.
please take the time to support such organisations as modmyi and cydia and the many many others who allow these freedoms with your iphone ipod touch and ipad products

Please dont update your iphone past 4.0...

3.1.2 is ok.. great for jailbreaking and to use but some apps wont run.
3.1.3 in my mind is the best everything at this point runs on it it jailbreaks fine.
4.0 is pretty good too just a bit slower nice to use though and JB is fine.
4.0.1 jailbreaks but its slow and pointless
4.0.2 is the devils work and should not even be considered its only existance is to make it so you cant jailbreak the phone. and its equally as slow as 4.0.1 because it is exactly the same apart from the JB.
4.0.1 is driving me nuts and because i have no shsh files for the phones im getting i have to put them back to 3.1.2 and thats where they have to stay.... this isnt very cool to be honest.

downgrade issue...

so i can down grade from anything to 3.1.2 no worries but from there i cant seem to upgrade to anothing other then 4.0.2... im wondering if this is due to a lack of shsh files on hand?
generally this isnt such an issue because im more then happy with running 3.1.2 but on some of the phones im working on i would like to be running 3.1.3 or 4.0.
any suggestions from anyone would be much appreciated

more phones and a new laptop on the way

finally starting to get back on my feet after the robery...
my new 3gs just arrived and im working on a few other phones for people currently.
An issue i have come across lately though is 2 phones same room at the same time with the same carrier (in this case vodafone) one has good service say 3 bars and the other has nothing. very strange ive tried with a different dock etc and checked all the chassis connection points in one case. has anyone else had this issue before?

downgrade from 4.0.1

the solution i have is dont go to 3.1.3 as i have been trying it keeps coming up saying incompatable file... how ever 3.1.2 works just fine. i still ran into some minor issues along the way but heres the deal.

the phone i was working on at the time is a iphone 3g 16 gig which was locked out in a way i ahvent seen before... some american thing where you can use the phone with out the right sim card installed basically. due to this it had some other issues aswell and forced me to do a restore. stupidly i clicked restore and update pushing it to 4.0.1. phone remained locked out. after many tries pushing it back to 3.1.3 heres what i did..

download a restore file of 3.1.2 and save it some where easy to find (it gets hidden some where in windows thats a bit hard to track down from the itunes window)

turn the phone off completely (theres many vids on you tube showing this process if you would like a visual)

hold power and home as if your doing a restart and hold them for 10 seconds (apparently this should be as close to actual 10 seconds as possible)

after 10 seconds release the power button but continue to hold the home button untill you hear the sound of your computer recognising a USB input.

the screen will remain black this is called DFU mode. itunes will say its recognised a phone in restore mode or something similar.

click ok on the box then you need to hold down shift and click restore a box will open so that you can select the firmware version you wish to use.

once this is done it will again come up in recovery mode. (i just used umbrella to kick it out) you can just restart the phone according to most posts.
i then tried to jailbreak with spirit but it failed i believe due tot he way it was locked to the provider so i tried the same thing with black rain which worked and then proceeded to jailbreak it with spirit also which apears to work fine together.

any videos and information to help you with this is available online and it easy to do once you get your head around it. im posting this because no one seemed to know how to fix the issue i was having.
if you have any problems like this or any questions feel free to contact me on here. ill help how ever i can

error 29 on iphone 3gs

Ive been reading alot of posts on line regarding and error 29 (hardware failure or something similar)although it seems to be only 3gs that does it - thsi may not be the case im going off only what i have read so far - theres been some mention of irecovery being able to make it boot again i just wanted to post that it might also be worth giving "umbrella" a try the "boot out of recovery button has worked wonders for me with similar faults when itunes is finding faults etc.

so beyond over trying to deal with IOS.4.0.1

ive been working on this for a couple of days... there is a very easy way to revert your phone back to 3.1.3... it just doesnt seem to work on any of the phones im trying to do it on. ive watched videos on you tube of people doing it step by step and having it work but it isnt working on my phones it doess everything the same but when you select the firmware version it simply tells me its not valid...

can anyone help me out here

im trying to find an easy way to revert my phone back to either 3.1.3 or 3.1.2 im happy with either... Cydia did have my old shsh files on the system but it seems that between my laptop being stollen and the need to do a full restore on my iphone 3g to get it working again and then re jailbreak it that those files are no longer on file for me... as you can imagine this is causing me endless dramas because 4.0.1 is a complete joke on a 3g.... half my apps dont open and when they do it take 3 or 4 tries to get it right.

4.0 and the ones to follow.....

please dont put them on your iphone 3g....
im playing around now trying to learnt he best ways to revert my iphone 3g back to either 3.1.3 or 3.1.2 seems that windows 7 makes it a bit harder to do.
might have to invest in a mac for doing this sode of things

gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

people on ebay when selling phones please be a little more truthful....
instead of writing i dropped it once and now it doesnt work.... how about saying i dropped it about 20 times and then it stopped working so i pulled it apart and tried to solder parts that arent meant to be soldered... ill still buy it... i just wont pay as much. but i will be much happier with my purchase because then i dont have to try and repair a fault that exists only because of stupidity..
and on another note... put all the screws back in then i might not notice you failed to fix it yourself

dont want your old broken smart phone ??

email me at fixmyphone@live.com with the phone type model and any other details you have.
let me know how much you want for it and and if we agree on a suitable price i will buy the phone from you.
very simple... it saves you putting it on ebay. i will buy them in any condition simply be truthful on the damage and whats broken and i will pay a fair and reasonable price for it. any make and model will be considered.

new legal jailbreak

This is most likely the biggest step forward in the jailbreaking of iphones. no downloads no need for a computer just open the website on your iphone and slide the bar across... done.
takes about 5 to 10 mins and works like a treat.

http://jailbreakme.modmyi.com/

this is currenty running on my 3g 16gig and was on my 3gs before thieving bastards broke into my house and stole it along with many other things.

with this it is now safe to update your iphone to 4.0.1 firmware.

hey and welcome

So... this blog is mostly here for the people who purchase my repaired iphones either through mates or off ebay. i will be posting any updates and information on jailbreaking and unlocking them on this blog so that any customers will be informed when it is safe to update to the new firmware etc. Along with this i will also post links to phones i have for sale and i am contactable in regards to reairing your iphones (or any other smart phone)
Now some info for you about me... im not just a jobless bum that decided to repair iphones.. im actually an audio visual technician who repairs phones on the side as a bit of a hobby. in saying that though i will be running this as a legitimate business and conducting all activities in a confidential and professional manner. i understand there are cases where people have broken a phone with some what sensitive material on it that they would wish to retrieve and for this reason i will be posting  (in the very near future) a confidentiality/privacy agreement of which i will be binded top legally. Please keep an eye on this blog and i will post videos over time so that you can see the processes and the repairs that i do on phones and to see the work that i can safely perform for you.

I have had a pretty bad day today since my house was broken into and 2 of the phones i have rebuilt along with my laptop were stolen so this might take me a little while to get back on track but please keep an eye on this blog for my future posts... non iphone users feel free to watch this blog also as i will post info on here for non iphone products but please be patient as there is far more stuff happening with iphones these days then other smart phones.
